The ideal scenario still requires some refinement. But Thiago Silva must be thinking about this potential Club World Cup final between his current club, Fluminense, and the ex he will forever be in love with, PSG . The first step for the 40-year-old Brazilian defender is this quarter-final, this Friday evening (9 p.m.), against the Saudis of Al-Hilal . An international match, played in Orlando (Florida), the paradise of wealthy American retirees.

Thiago Silva's post-career isn't coming soon. Why would he think about it after everything he's shown in the Fluminense "Tricolores" jersey? The defender has been playing for Rio de Janeiro's oldest club since his teenage years, during his youth. After a first stint as a professional (2006-2009), he returned as a hero in the summer of 2024 , welcomed by 50,000 fans in the immense Maracana stadium. A return home celebrated with great fanfare by a public that isn't always kind to its idols.
